Most Epic Blogger Brunch at The Barn at Springhouse

August 2, 2017

the barn at springhouse

A few weeks ago, seventeen bloggers from Lexington, Kentucky got together for the most epic Pinterest-esque, bohemian inspired, blogger brunch ever! We all joked about how ‘extra’ it was going to be, and it turned out even better than we all imagined. We planned it for weeks and even hired a professional photographer and everything! The brunch was held on Sunday, July 16 at The Barn at Springhouse, which is in Nicholasville, KentuckyΒ (it’s only a few minutes from Lexington). We all worked together and contributed something different for the brunch, whether it was a recipe, DIY, outfit post, or something else!

Just wait until you see our vision that came to life…

At the brunch, there was a flower crown making station, a mimosa bar, and not to mention a huge spread of delicious food, which was all provided by us and the local businesses that cared to collaborate with us. Isn’t this location and decor gorgeous? (P.S. The venue is available to book for your event!). We each brought a dish to the brunchΒ (I baked cake cookies with sprinkles).Β Some bloggers even dedicated a post to the dish that they brought to the brunchΒ (Everyone’s post went live today, and I’ve linked them below for you to check out!).Β

We all believe in community over competition, and it is something that we strive for. Life is much happier and fulfilling that way. We are all in this together. We are all actual friends in real life. Lots of us talk with one another on a daily basis, as well as planning several “blogger meetups” throughout each month, so we can get together and hang outΒ (Over the weekend, many of us Lexington bloggers went to Louisville to 8up to meet up with some Louisville bloggers. Also, before that, us bloggers were treated by the Anthony Vince Nail Spa for manicures or pedicures).Β If you follow us on instagram, you’ll see us together on instagram stories quite often!

What is The Barn at Springhouse?

“The Barn at Springhouse GardensΒ is available for your once in a lifetime event. Just minutes from Lexington, our historic tobacco barn is now a breathtaking venue capturing the charm of days gone by, preserving the best of Kentucky’s traditional barn architecture and blending it with modern elegance. The new enhancements to The Barn feature a rustic loft, dazzling chandeliers and wall to wall custom flooring with the look of natural stone. Many vintage accents include bourbon barrels, a repurposed barnwood bar, carriage lanterns, a customizable chalkboard, antique cabinets, a stunning wall of mirrors and more. The attached former tobacco stripping room is perfect for use by caterers and florists. An outdoor sitting wall, patio and winding sidewalk connect The Barn to a charming gazebo and large lawn area which can accommodate a tent in case of rain. The entire venue is nestled amongst mature trees and is surrounded by lush gardens beautifully lit and accented for evening ambiance. The nearby original farmhouse can be rented for an additional charge as well as the adjacent Garden Center with its covered pergolas and pavilions.”Β -via Springhouse Gardens

Tell me: Do you have a group of local bloggers that you hang out with? Do you like to plan events?

  • Chandni Patel August 2, 2017 at 4:56 am

Wow! everything looks so good from the food to the barn… must of been a amazing brunch! Some very good pictures here πŸ™‚

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:40 am

It was such a great time!! And the barn just became a venue about two years ago. It had been used as storage before πŸ™‚

  • Maya Maceka August 2, 2017 at 7:36 am

    P.S. Your outfit is killer!

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:41 am

We were so happy to see our vision come to life. We took a few pictures and did a couple of stories on instagram, but we mostly left it to our photographer. The girl’s family (Kayla at Kayla Weber Art) is an artist and she painted the photo that was used as the setting at our table πŸ™‚

  • Samantha O'Brian Summers August 2, 2017 at 7:43 am

That turned out amazing! Between the venue, decor, and company, I bet you had a wonderful time!

  • Brita Long August 2, 2017 at 11:01 am

Atlanta has a thriving blogger scene… Except I live super-north of Atlanta, in Cumming. So I’ve only made it out for one blogger event in the city.

These photos are absolutely stunning. What wonderful collaboration!

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:46 am

Is it too far to drive? I’m not sure how close those cities are to each other. Lots of us recently drove to Louisville, which is about an hour away to meet up with those bloggers. Maybe you can host an event in Cumming?

      Thanks so much!!

      • Brita Long August 4, 2017 at 12:13 pm

It’s too far to drive most of the time. It’s about an hour drive during non-rush hour just to northern parts of Atlanta. More central or southern takes even more time. Add in rush hour (3:30-6:30), and the drive can be two hours. The vast majority of events I’ve been invited to, or I’ve seen in the Atlanta Bloggers FB group, are weeknights. I did attend one several years ago, when we lived in Duluth, that was on a Sunday night. It was still an hour and a half drive, and my husband convinced me to just get a hotel for Sunday night so I wasn’t driving home around 11pm.

I would love to host something in Cumming, but we honestly just moved here and know next to nothing about the area. We are so rural that our property line backs up against a field where we sometimes see a tractor riding through.

  • Krystin August 2, 2017 at 11:12 am

Ahh, this looks like the cutest lunch! I can’t handle all of the details, so good!

Wow! Everything looked amazing! I think it’s so cool that you all got to meet-up in such a beautiful place. I love the mimosa station and build-you-own flower crowns…so fun!

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:48 am

I love those touches too. I had to have help with my flower crown, because I’m not really a crafty person like that hahah!

  • Jenna Urben August 2, 2017 at 12:17 pm

Oh my gosh, I love this!! I hope I get a chance to attend a blogger meetup here in Dallas

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:48 am

Thanks so much!! I’ve heard that Dallas has a huge blogging scene! It’s definitely such a great thing to hang out and meet other bloggers and collab with one another!

  • Amanda August 2, 2017 at 12:26 pm

Ummmm this looks SO fun! What a lovely location, and everything looks beautiful! Building your own flower crown is just about the coolest thing ever!

    • Whitney S. August 4, 2017 at 1:50 am

  • Leela August 2, 2017 at 12:31 pm

We all worked together and planned the brunch out ourselves. We even got local stores and vendors involved πŸ™‚ We plan several blogger meetups throughout the month, but it isn’t as elaborate as this one though! We also get invited to events at restaurants and stores and we get perks and free stuff from them (but we share it on social media as part of the deal) πŸ™‚

Lovely idea of a perfect bloggers brunch date event! Such a perfect venue as well, it’s good to have a place like that here in Sacramento, I’m sure everyone has enjoyed!

    About Me

    Hi, y'all!

Hey y'all! My name is Whitney, and I'm the founder of Fabulous in Fayette. I've been living in Lexington since 2008. I'm in love with my city of Lexington and love all the amazing local businesses and restaurants. It's seriously one of the best places to live!

Not to be confused with Fayetteville, North Carolina. Fabulous in Fayette celebrates the fabulous city of Lexington, the great state of Kentucky, and Southern Living. In case you are not from here, Fayette refers to the county where Lexington is located!

    xoxo, Whitney
