National Pizza Day: Lexington, Kentucky Edition

February 8, 2018

national pizza day lexington kentucky

Everyone that knows me personally, or follows me on social media, knows how much I LOVE pizza, so I could never forget about February 9 aka National Pizza Day! I love pizza so much that I get sent pizza memes and all things related to pizza on a daily basis. That’s how much I LOVE pizza! Back in 2015, I even went as Pizza Rat for Halloween from the viral video. I own several different pieces of pizza related clothing – a onesie, t-shirts, necklaces, and much more.So much so that people have called me “The Pizza Queen!” About thirty friends of mine go four-wheeling together and we have even had our own jerseys made with our nicknames on the back. Of course, my nickname would be pizza related – it’s Pepperoni!

I compiled a list of all the pizza restaurants in Lexington, as well as some other restaurants that have yummy pizza on their menu. Now, this should give you an idea of where to celebrate this delicious day!

4. Brick Oven Pizzeria

They make every day from scratch in the store. It took many months of trial and error before they got it just right. All the components are carefully measured out and combined at the exact right temperature before we even get going. After they create the dough, they age it to excellence. Like a fine wine, it’s not ready at the moment of creation. It has to be lovingly monitored every hour and nudged in the right direction until it’s ready. They fire it up to 800 degrees and spin the pizza though for two minutes. What comes out is circular perfection: a geometrical expression of our love, precision and dedication. It’s made right every time and each bite is a testament to the passion we bring to this art.

Coming Soon – LaRosa’s Pizza!

I’m sure everyone from Lexington knows about LaRosa’s Pizza, which is based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. LaRosa’s is known for its pizza, rondos (rounds of pizza dough with sauce and cheese) and calzones. In February 1975, Rose Street and Euclid Avenue, Lexington had two locations of this popular Cincinnati pizzeria. The LaRosa’s Family Pizzeria on Richmond Road was scheduled to open the summer of 2018, but it still hasn’t opened yet. Skyline, another Cincinnati favorite, opened in Lexington around the end of August 2018. Skyline is known for “Cincinnati-style chili,” which has cinnamon and other unusual spices and is served on top of spaghetti noodles.
