Looking for something to do on the weekend? Look no further than the NoLi Night Market. It is held the first Friday of every month from April to December. It’s free and runs from 6pm to 10pm. The next Night Market will be held on Friday, June 3.
You will find food trucks, local vendors from the community, beer, live music, and so much more. If you are a fan of the local shop, Kentucky For Kentucky, you can check them out there as well too. The shop is located at 720 BryanAvenue, which is the same location as The Night Market.
Just a tip: If you are going to go, plan to walk, but don’t let that deter you. There is heavy traffic and lots of cars, so you may have to park rather far away.
{top left}: Spotz Gelato is one of the many food vendors that you can find at The Night Market. I was first introduced to Spotz back in October 2015, when I went to the Feeders Cup (It was an event that cost $20 and you could eat from 20 food trucks that were a part of the event). They were serving Kentucky Pride, which was their version of Derby Pie. At The Night Market, I decided to get the Banana Pudding flavor gelato, because I just am in love with all things banana. Their ingredients are local and absolutely delicious!
{top right}: This is something that The Night Market recently launched. For the May Night Market, they launched their reusuable cup program. Here’s what the NoLi CDC said about it:
“This year, in effort to reduce waste and promote re-use, our Season Sponsor, West Sixth Brewing will be pouring draft selections in stainless steel cups!
Last year, West Sixth used close to 9,000 plastic cups…at the Night Market alone.
The cup will be a $5 deposit down when you purchase your first beer, and then when you return to the West Sixth booth, you can either grab another beer for $4, or return the cup and get the $5 deposit back!
And, of course, you can keep the cup and bring it back to the next Night Market! Proceeds go to the North Limestone Community Development Corporation.”
{bottom left}: Meet the Cocaine Bear aka Pablo EskoBear. The sign on the bear states: “In 1985, Cocaine Bear was found dead in the Chattahoochee National Forest. He overdosed on FORTY KILOS of cocaine dropped by Andrew Thorton from the Bluegrass Conspiracy.”
{bottom right}: Another one of Lexington’s many, many, many murals. Have you found them all?
