Picking Apples at Eckert’s Boyd Orchard

October 19, 2018

Fabulous In Fayette is occasionally gifted items to try and/or compensated in exchange for a post.  Any collaborative post will be disclosed as a collaboration or partnership. Regardless of receiving a gifted item and/or compensation, my thoughts and reviews are 100% my own.

Even though it’s way too early to tell, it seems that we have skipped over fall and went straight into what could be considered winter like temps. Earlier last week, it was almost 90 degrees. On Friday, it was the perfect fall day, but then on Saturday, it dropped around 20 degrees!

It was a bit chilly, but my husband and I made a trip to Eckert’s Boyd Orchard, to pick apples. Since it was so chilly outside, we bought a cup of hot apple cider to help warm us up. Plus, fall wouldn’t be fall without a trip to the apple orchard!

For those that don’t know, Eckert’s Boyd Orchard is located off of Pinckard Pike in Versailles, Kentucky. At Eckert’s Boyd Orchard, they grow super sweet peaches, blackberries, over 30 varieties of apples, and lots of pumpkins, which are all available seasonally. There is even a tractor ride that you can enjoy to the fields to pick the fruit of your choice.

Last year was the first time that we’ve been ,and my husband and I had a blast. It’s such a great place to have a date or take your entire family if you have children. There are lots of activities for children to enjoy, such as a playground, a 90 foot slide, a three story tree house, and even Terry’s Apple Mountain, that you can climb to the top of! There are also activities such as; gem-mining, pig races, a corn maze, a train ride, petting zoo, and even a pumpkin jumping pad! I’m excited for whenever we have kids, so we can join in the activities with them!

When taking the tractor ride out to the orchard, it first stopped at the pumpkin patch in case you wanted to pick out your own pumpkin. There are also pumpkins available at the front entrance.

We decided not to pick out a pumpkin this year, but instead waited until the tractor dropped us off at the apples. This year, we were able to pick Cameo and Fuji apples. After we were finished picking apples, we decided to head back to the country store and entrance. I’m kind of bummed that we didn’t go through the corn maze, since it is one of my favorite fall activities! It was just too chilly for me!

The country store always has so many goodies. There is everything from delicious jams, jellies, preserves, honey, pies, and various fresh fruits, as well as apple cider and super cute gift items. We loaded up with so many delicious items – everything from barbecue sauce to apple butter to some peach jam!

Of course, since we were back, we had to pick up a dozen of Eckert’s apple cider donuts. They are so AMAZING! They are seriously the perfect fall treat! I’m sure they go quick, so make sure to grab a dozen or two while you are there!
