  • 8am: Pianos in Parks – throughout Lexington, Kentucky: Is playing a piano in the great outdoors on your bucket list? Lexington, KY Parks & Recreation is about to help you cross it off. Parks is placing pianos at four parks – Phoenix, Thoroughbred, Woodland and Castlewood – from Friday, July 19, through Friday, Aug. 30. To add a little visual art, the pianos have been painted by Parks and Recreation staff artist Carol Drury.
  • 11am: Cold Czech Pilsner Release at Blue Stallion Brewing (alcohol): Brewed by Paul Moss and Darrin Green, this traditional Czech Pilsner is the perfect beer to ring in the weekend!

Three years in the making, the show skillfully illustrates ancient astronomy and the motions of celestial objects that fascinated Johannes Kepler.
  • 6:30pm: Fantasy Draft Package at Tin Roof Lexington: They are offering multiple day/night reservations for your fantasy team to come draft on the stage at Tin Roof Lexington! More details: HERE.
  • 6:30pm; TGIF! – For Your Next Girls’ Night Out! at Board and Brush Lexington (class): Looking for a fun night out with friends or family? Join the most popular DIY workshop and create your own unique wood sign or clock! Select a wood project from our gallery. We provide all the materials and instruct you step-by-step to create a beautiful piece for your home or for a gift. Choose from a variety of paint and wood stain colors in the workshop.   • 6:30pm: Cabernet Canter Cross Country 5k/10k at Talon Winery (fitness/health/fitness): Run for wine at the second annual Cabernet Canter Cross Country 5k/10k at Talon Winery! With registration, participants will receive a beautiful cross country race course, race shirt, and wine glass with the Cabernet Canter race logo. After the race, also be sure to grab your 3 free wine tasting tickets! If participants are under 21, they will receive all portions of the finisher award except for the tasting tickets. Stick around after the event for the opportunity to use your tasting tickets, shop the great selection of wines, and hang out with live music!   • 6:30pm: AZUR restaurant and Patio Latin Pig Roast (food): Come and kick-off the Labor Day weekend with AZUR for our annual Latin Pig Roast. Crafted from our beloved Brasabana Cuban Cuisine recipes, they will be featuring all the Latin favorites and plenty of refreshing drink specials.   • 8pm: Ghost Walk of Lexington: Haunted Tales and Historic Trails at the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning: Join Patti Starr, Certified Ghost Hunter of 40 years, as she takes you on a most unforgettable ghost walk around Gratz Park. Her tales will include hauntings from a murder, curse, and other macabre happenings while entertaining you with intriguing history. You will also learn a thing or two about ghost hunting so bring your camera, recorder, meter and any other device you might want to use on the walk. At the end of every walk Patti will demonstrate how to use the instruments in order to collect spirit evidence as the group gets involved in a mini ghost hunt. This is an optional choice.   • 8am: DV8K Life Changing Run at Keeneland (cause): Help DV8 Kitchen Vocational Training Foundation Inc. and RaceRise build a bakery that changes lives. Come out for the 2nd Annual DV8K Life Changing Run on August 31, 2019 at 8:00am at Keeneland Race Course. The race will feature their signature 8K (4.97 miles), a 4K (2.5 miles) run/walk and Kids 1K Dash. There is also a Virtual Runner/Walker opportunity. The races will start/finish near Barn 2 and will be unique courses through the scenic Keeneland grounds. Run or walk the 4K with strollers welcomed.   • 3pm: LCO Fall Kick-Off Party/Fundraiser at Blue Stallion Brewing (cause): Come out for the LCO Fall Kick-Off Party/Fundraiser to celebrate Lexington Community Orchestra’s 2019/2020 Season. Blue Stallion Brewing is providing the space and donating 10% of their day’s proceeds to Lexington Community Orchestra. They will also accept donations during the event! LCO is a nonprofit orchestra comprised of amateur, professional and semi-professional musicians, conducted by Dr. Timothy Wiggins of EKU, to perform quality classical music free to the community.

Attendees will take a short tour of the fall and winter vegetable garden, learn how to build a simple low tunnel structure, and get to take home some cold hardy vegetable transplants to try at home.

Get in formation and come out on Wednesday, September 4th as Whiskey Bear turns into a Bey Hive for the night. They will be celebrating Beyoncé’s 38th birthday by playing all of her greatest hits, from her days with Destiny’s Child to the On the Run tour with Jay-Z.   • 6pm: Dodging Coconuts – Building Resilience in Challenging Times at Good Foods (class): This is a special introductory “Dodging Coconuts” seminar. Learn how to reach within yourself to find balance in a universe careening out of control. Just as the Wizard of Oz said to Dorothy as she pulled back the curtain and revealed his fraudulent and bumbling attempt to convince others that he was the all-powerful Oz, “You have always had the power to go home.” Going home means understanding that the secret to a good and meaningful life comes from within.   • 5pm: East End Community Market at The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center (food): Bring home your very own share of this season’s finest local produce, with ten different mouthwatering varieties at each pick-up. Their veggies are cooperatively purchased, so we’re able to buy direct from local farms at wholesale cost. Your family can join the fun by pre-ordering your share – they use a sliding scale, so EVERYONE is included.
  • 6pm: Road to Roots Celebration at The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center: Featuring Gidi Agbeko and Godwin Abotsi, masters of the music and dance of West Africa. More details: HERE.
  • 6pm: Discovery Night: Born to be Wild at The Living Arts & Science Center (kid friendly): What does it mean to be WILD? Come out as we ask these questions and more with special live animal guest appearances from Second Chances Wildlife Center of Louisville, Kentucky and a beautiful new planetarium show about biodiversity and ecosystems, Expedition Reef! During this program you will learn about wild animals, where to find them, what they need, and what to do if you find one! Together, we can help protect and conserve wild animals who share our habitat. Expected animal friends include a skunk and an armadillo!
