As always here is a list of some things going on in Lexington, Kentucky. It isn’t an extensive list, but just something to give y’all some ideas!

Friday, September 13, 2019 – The Scarefest and Festival Latino de Lexington

  • 8am: Devin’s Breakfast Boogie at Coffee Times Coffee House: Grab your coffee and grab some cheer before absolutely seizing the day.
  • 10am: The Scarefest at the Lexington Center: The ScareFest is the nation’s premier horror and paranormal convention. September 12-15, 2019 in Lexington, Kentucky. Details and tickets available: HERE.
  • 10am: Logan’s Big Blue Tailgating Party at Logan’s of Lexington: See the new UK merchandise and meet UK Coach Mark Stoops FRIDAY at Logan’s Big Blue Tailgating Party! See details: HERE.
  • 12pm: Grand Opening Spotz Lexington at Spotz Gelato: Their grand opening will be Friday, September 13th and they will be open from 12-9 that day (Their regular hours will also be 12-9 pm, seven days a week for those that can’t make it on opening day).
  • 4pm: IP&J at Wise Bird Cider: Come check out Cuban grub including Cuban sandwiches, plantation tacos, and Cuban nachos at Lexington’s newest cider hot spot.
  • 4pm: $5 Happy Hour: Four Roses OBSF Barrel Select at OBC Kitchen: You can try Four Roses OBSF Barrel Select for just $5!
  • 5pm: Fall Festival at The Lexington School: Fall Festival is a FUN raiser for the entire Lexington School community. Parents, children, alumni, and friends of TLS are welcome. Wristbands are sold for inflatables and other activities, food trucks available for festive fare, and plenty of free fun and games for everyone as well.
  • 5pm: Festival Latino de Lexington 2019 at North Limestone: Festival Latino de Lexington is the biggest Latino event in the whole state and in the region, in its 18th edition we will have so many surprises, music, dances, folk art, FOOD!!
  • 5pm: The High Noon Sun Sips Showdown at Belle’s: Come find your new favorite spiked seltzer every Friday in September at Belle’s Cocktail House!  From 5-9 every Friday this month, they’ll have buckets of all four flavors of High Noon Sun Sips Vodka & Soda for just $10. Or, grab a bucket of four Black Cherry White Claws for $12 to taste-test and compare. High Noon will be on hand to hand out swag!
  • 5pm: Friday The 13th With Urban Outfitters: Come out and celebrate Friday The 13th with 13% off off your UO purchase, tarot + crystal readings by Creatures Of Whim and Sandy Stephenson, herbal tea infusions, and giveaways!
  • 6pm: Music in the Mall at Fayette Mall: Grab some food, relax and enjoy music on your Friday evening. Fayette Mall presents Music in the Mall, featuring live music entertainment by local favorite guitarist, Michael Robinson Acoustic. Performances are from 6pm – 9pm.
  • 6pm: Luke LeBlanc at Talon Winery: Join singer-songwriter Luke LeBlanc at Talon, September 13!
  • 6pm: Science Fridays in the Planetarium: Mexica Archeoastronomy at The Living Arts and Science Center: Through impressive immersive scenarios, Mexica Archaeoastronomy: Between Space & Time illustrates the important role played by astronomical observation for the evolution of pre-Hispanic cultures in central Mexico. The Mexicans used the calendrical and astronomical knowledge inherited by their predecessor cultures to found the capital of their empire: Tenochtitlan. Vibrant colours, shapes and sounds transport the viewer to one of the most important cultures that, to this day, still lives in the heart of the Mexican people. More details: HERE.
  • 6pm: Freddie’s Root Beer Floats & Buffalo Trace Cream Cocktails at Liquor Barn – Hamburg: Join Freddie Johnson, Buffalo Trace Distillery Legend and creator of Freddie’s Root Beer for Freddie’s Root Beer floats and the signature Buffalo Trace Cream cocktail.
  • 6:30pm: Freaky Friday the 13th at Board and Brush Lexington: Come celebrate Friday the 13th and make a project that you will never forget! These projects are offered as walk in projects and are smaller in size and price. That makes them so perfect to come make for any reason, but to celebrate Freaky Friday is a pretty darn good reason!! Select a wood project from our Make and Take gallery. They provide all the materials and instruct you step-by-step to create a beautiful piece for your home or for a gift.   • 7pm: Lakeside Live at Lexington Green (music): Come out for a weekend of free live music, delicious food, and a great atmosphere! Lakeside Live is family friendly. They also allow your furry friends!
  • 7pm: A Haunted Evening at ReBelle: They just turned 13 and September has a Friday the 13th so they decided to celebrate with a party!! They will reopen the shop at 7pm with haunting music, scary treats, and vintage ReBelle prizes. This won’t be a sale, though there will be some special hand dyed yarn just for this event. Come out and celebrate their 13 years of business!!
  • 7pm: Four Roses Bourbon Event at Bluegrass Tavern: Come out to Bluegrass Tavern on October 13th for our Four Roses Events. Order ANY of our Four Roses Bourbon and enjoy complimentary Four Roses Bourbon Balls and Four Roses giveaways while supplies last.

  • 7:15pm: Darryl Lenox at Comedy Off Broadway: Darryl grew up in Las Vegas and lived in Seattle, Los Angeles and Vancouver, Canada for several years before making New York City his permanent home. He is no stranger to comedy, having toured the US and Canada for over 15 years headlining comedy clubs, but his latest work is suddenly seeing a massive amount of response and exposure from mainstream media who are just now discovering Lenox and his unique approach to comedy.   • 8pm: You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (revised) at the Studio Players – Lexington Community Theatre: With charm, wit, and heart, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (revised)” is a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic, based on the beloved comic strip by Charles Schultz. Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder, and Snoopy in this charming revue of vignettes and songs. Musical numbers include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “Suppertime,” “Happiness” plus two new songs, “Beethoven Day” and “My New Philosophy,” have been added to the twelve numbers from the original version. Saturday, September 14, 2019 – The Scarefest and Festival Latino de Lexington and Fayette Fest

  • 9am: Fit4Mom Workout + Saturday Brunch at Epping’s On Eastside: Every Saturday and Sunday, Epping’s serves a delicious, locally-sourced brunch menu from 8am to 2 pm Think mimosas and bloody marys for the parents while the kids enjoy brunch and watching cartoons in one of our private dining rooms – it’s a win-win!   • 9am: Sweat Series at Origin Hotel: Join Coach Mike Gardner for an hour of Flow and Go in the Origin Ballroom! They’ll be working out to live beats by DJ Forerunner! For $10 participants will receive a $5 gift card to the hotel’s restaurant as well as a Summit Swag Bag & light refreshments! Enjoy a bloody mary or mimosa after class and get to know our hotel!   • 9am: Outdoor Skills at McConnell Springs: Come out for their Outdoor Skills Program. This program is designed for all ages. They will teach you handy skills to add to your repertoire. Today’ class is orienteering.

  • 10am: Beyond Grits Culinary Walking Tour: The Kentucky Classics at VisitLex (food): Led by local foodie, Alex Cain, spend the morning on a culinary walking tour through downtown Lexington learning about our deep agricultural roots and booming food scene. With inventive and field-to-fork cuisine at every turn and local chefs on a mission to showcase the unique southern flavors in and around Lexington, this city is undergoing a culinary movement. All tours begin at the Lexington Visitors Center and end at the Lexington Farmers’ Market. Alex will share information about Kentucky food traditions and historical facts while visiting some of the best restaurants in downtown.   • 10am: Cider + Savasana: Yoga Series at Wise Bird Cider: Come out for donation-based yoga at Wise Bird Cider with Casey Bryan Sleeper + Christina Morales Yoga at 10 AM. Follow your flow by sipping cider, sangria, + slushies + Southland Bagel.
  • 10am: Bourbon Heritage Month Retail Release at Justins’ House of Bourbon: They are celebrating Bourbon Heritage Month in a big way at Justins’ House of Bourbon! Come out this Saturday, September 14th, for our biggest retail release yet. Click HERE to see the bottles that will be available on a first come, first serve basis, limit one per customer.
  • 10am: Customer Appreciation Day at Le Matin French Bakery: Complimentary cookies, coffee, and tea, from 10 am while it lasts. They have been in business for 37 years!
  • 11am: Lexington Store Grand Opening at Steel Mill & Co.: They are celebrating the Grand Opening for the new Lexington store! Stop by from 11am-2pm on Saturday, September 14th for exclusive discounts, gift with purchase, braid-bar from Drybar, & ice cream pops from Steel City Pops! Located at 882 East High Street.
  • 11am: Johnsonville’s Big Taste Grill Tailgate in Lexington at Kroger – 3175 Beaumont Circle: They are throwing the tailgate before the tailgate this game day. Stop by the Kroger on 3175 Beaumont Centre Circle for brats hot off the Big Taste Grill, Bush’s Beans and Cleveland Kraut. 
  • 11am: Breyer Fun Day at The American Saddlebred Museum: This family-friendly event encourages young horse lovers to show their creative side and paint their own Breyer Stablemates models. Offered at two times, either 11am or 1pm, you can shop the latest Breyer collection, enjoy some refreshments, and have lots of Breyer fun!
  • 12pm: Love Simply Scrubs at Sugarboo & Co: Come out this Saturday to enjoy these all natural, hand-crafted sugar scrubs blended with essential oils. Enjoy the benefits of exfoliating and moisturizing your skin while inhaling amazing aromatherapy!
  • 12pm: Footprints in the Sand Bottle Release at Fusion Brewing: This Saturday come down and get a bottle of our newest Solera Project Rum Barrel sour! “Footprints in the Sand” is a beautifully complex Rum barrel aged sour with tons of flavor and an amazing smooth finish. They’ll be open at noon and have a very limited quantity both in bottle and on draft. East Coast Sammies will be there in the early afternoon providing food!
  • 12pm: Woke Brunch Saturdays at GirlsGirlsGirls Burritos (food/cause): Woke brunch every Saturday at GirlsGirlsGirls from 12pm to 5pm. A portion of kitchen and bar sales goes to support a rotating cast of local non-profits!

Sunday, September 15, 2019 – The Scarefest and Festival Latino de Lexington

  • 10am: Lexington Farmers Market at Southland (Near the Save-A-Lot Parking Lot): Visit their table at this beautiful outdoor market to browse their locally grown alpaca products! You can feel the softness of genuine alpaca, experience their products in person and meet the staff to learn more about the ranch.
  • 11am: LexWalk at the Farmers Market at 398 Southland Drive: Participants will complete a marked 1-mile walking loop to Hill N Dale Park and back. Each participant will receive an entry into a giveaway for a chance to win a prize. In addition, the first 150 participants each Sunday June-August will receive a $4 voucher that can be used on market produce. More details: HERE.
  • 11am: Donation-based Yoga at Ethereal Brewing (fitness/health/wellness): Join us at Ethereal every Sunday at 11:00 a.m for donation-based Yoga with OMmaggi! Tips for the awesome instructor are greatly appreciated.
  • 12pm: 2019 Fayette Fest at Red Mile: Fayette Fest will take place at the Red Mile on Sunday, September 15th from 12 pm – 6pm and will feature Corey Smith, Halfway to Hazard, A Common Wealth Band, food trucks, a beer garden, an arts and crafts market, a kids’ area, and a special jumping area for dog lovers and their furry friends.   • 1pm: Festival Latino de Lexington 2019 at North Limestone: Festival Latino de Lexington is the biggest Latino event in the whole state and in the region, in its 18th edition we will have so many surprises, music, dances, folk art, FOOD!!
  • 1pm: Touch-A-Truck 2019 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark: The Child Development Center of the Bluegrass (CDCB) will host the 10th Annual Touch *A* Truck event on Sunday, September 15, 2019, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The event offers a unique opportunity for Central Kentuckians of all ages to touch and explore construction vehicles of all sizes, emergency vehicles, and service vehicles we are typically not allowed to touch, in order to benefit CDCB. The cost is $20/car (up to 7 people). All funds raised at this event are used to directly impact the services offered to children with and without special needs.
  • 1pm: Special Sunday Pedaling For A Purpose at West Sixth Brewing: The Bluegrass Cycling Club and West 6th have agreed to co-sponsor Pedaling for a Purpose again for 2019. They will be riding for all of our great charities – AMBUCS, the Hope Center, and Broke Spoke!!
  • 1pm: Vintage Baseball Game at Waveland: Waveland is the home field to the only Kentucky Vintage Base Ball team, The Bluegrass Barons! Bring your chair and come enjoy a wonderful day of history, food and of course, the good old American pastime, baseball as it was in the 1860’s! No reservations needed!   • 2pm: Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day at McCarthy’s Irish Bar: Join the Bluegrass Irish Society as they celebrate Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day with an afternoon of Irish food, dance and culture. Enter their soda bread baking contest, watch and dance with local Irish dancers, and listen to music from Liam Fancy. Join in the fun as they start the countdown to our 2020 Lexington St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival.
  • 2pm: Summer Time Yappy Hour at Mirror Twin Brewing: Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Mirror Twin Brewing are partnering with the Lexington Pit Crew to bring you weekly “Yappy hours” every Sunday from 2 – 5PM. They will be donating $2 per Tito’s cocktail during every Yappy Hour all summer back to support the Lexington Pit Crew!!

  • 6:30pm: Bourbon 101: Introduction to Bourbon at Ranada’s Bistro and Bar: Learn the Standards of identity that distinguish bourbon from other whiskies; We will introduce you to the secret language of bourbon, e.g., Mashbill, KY Chew, KY Hug, Flavoring Grain, Small Batch, Cask Strength, Proof, ABV, Angel’s Share, Devil’s Cut, and more.   • 8pm: Dusty’s Ragtime Band & Novelties at Cosmic Charlie’s: Ragtime Piano Genius and part-time peddler of healing tonics, Professor Dusty Bottoms keeps the turn-of-the-century spirit alive with his Rag-Pop stylings. Accompanied by Cirque Madame Corey Cheval, chief wrangler of acrobats, along with their band of misfit musicians, Professor Bottoms and Friends present a masterful display of churlish sarcasm, wanton wit, stylish stunts, and slammin’ good tunes.
  • 8:30pm: Downton Abbey Trivia and Movie Ticket Giveaway at Soundbar: Downton Abbey opens on September 20th, and they will be giving away FREE TICKETS so you can be one of the first fans to see it! Come out on Sunday, September 15th for 5 rounds of trivia to test your knowledge of the Downton Abbey!

  • 8:45am: Monday Morning Community Yoga at Martine’s Pastries(fitness/health/wellness): Yoga instructor Erica House is leading a Monday morning community yoga practice for all upstairs in the shop. Erica’s donation based class is perfect for any age, level or ability. You’ll flow through a series of yoga poses guided by the breath, designed to create space while discovering self.
  • 4pm: Monday Night Fútbol at The Burl: Monday Night Fútbol at The Burl Arcade and 1/2 Mezcal + Nathans Taqueria.
  • 6pm: WIN BIG at Monday Night Football at Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery: They have BOGO Boneless Wings every Monday, plus their NFL specials of $12 beer buckets, $5 domestic pitchers, $4 fireball, $2 LITs and $5 Loaded Tots.   • 6pm: Greg Austin at The Twisted Cork: The Twisted Cork and Listen Locally present Lexington Music Award Lifetime Achievement Honoree Greg Austin LIVE every Monday Night – each performance delivering one of the most memorable experiences you will ever have! Relive some great times, support local music, hear Greg Austin’s new songs in a celebration of fun, music and friendship.
  • 6:15pm: Free Yoga Basics in Back at Meadowthorpe: First session starts Monday night through October 7. Great class for beginners. Come meet your neighbors and breathe and flow. More details: HERE.
  • 6:30pm: Pivot Community Yoga at Pivot Brewing: Begin each week with intentional peace with our incredible instructors and a beer (or cider!) to finish it off. All of their yoga classes are pay-as-you-can, donations-based. All donations will be given to the instructor, unless otherwise noted. Their instructors generously volunteer their time and effort.   • 2pm: Tea Tuesday at Waveland: Looking for something fun, unique and different to do with a friend or a group? Waveland State Historic site is serving tea every Tuesday! Tea is served at 2 pm in the mansion on fine china. All teas include a program, savory food, not to mention the delicious tea served by period dressed interpreters.   • 6pm: Evening with the Experts at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary: A new monthly series will bring experts out to Raven Run to talk about nature. After the talk, you’ll explore Raven Run to observe the things you just learned about. Today’s lecture: What’s All the Flutter?: Protecting Our Monarchs. Learn about the monarch butterfly, the threats facing it, and Kansas University’s monarch tagging program. Then, assist in tagging some monarch butterflies and take a walk to learn about how you can build your own monarch waystation.

Their artist entertainers will be there for you every step of the way!   • 5pm: Feast of St. Genarro at Lexington Diner: Join The Lexington Diner and Chef Chucky with special host Gennaro Galtieri for a meal fit for a Saint! The Feast of Saint Gennaro is an Italian-American tradition to celebrate the patron Saint of Naples. Gennaro Galtieri of Lexitalia fame will be helping the chefs to produce a 3 course Italian meal to remember. Available from 5pm to 9pm on Thursday September 19th.
  • 5pm: Book Signing & Meet and Greet at Wild Fig Books and Coffee: Join Martika Shanel at The Wild Fig – a black and cooperatively-owned and worker-owned radical bookstore, coffee shop, and community event space in the North Limestone area of Lexington, Kentucky – for a book signing for her children’s book I Will Live My Best Life Too. She looks forward to meet and greets and reading to the children—all ages are welcome.

  • 6:30pm: Bourbon Education Series: Greatest Master Distillers at Total Wine & More – Hamburg: A look at the some of the key people from the history of bourbon. They are going to be talking about the greatest master distillers of all-time. These are the most influential and creative since the first corn whiskey was placed in a charred oak barrel.   • 6:45pm: Vegan Harvest Beer Dinner at West Sixth Brewing: They are collaborating again with Ouita Michel, Agnes Marrero, and the team at Smithtown Seafood to bring you a fresh and seasonal vegan feast — highlighting hyper-local produce, greens from FoodChain next door, and of course — beer!
