The Bourbon Social: The Main Event | Tips For Bourbon Tasting Events

October 12, 2016

Over the last week (October 6-9), there were four amazing events called, The Bourbon Social. The Bourbon Social is a festival celebrating the craft and culture of Bourbon and Southern food. Earlier this year, in February, April, and June were The Bourbon Social Presents… events (see: Beer, Bourbon, and Bacon Garden Party). Out of the four events, I attended two; the one on Saturday and the one on Sunday. What The Bourbon Social is about… “Located in the heart of the Bluegrass, The Bourbon Social is a series of events celebrating Bourbon craft and culture, and the great people who…

Flashback Friday: Modeling For Fashion at the Races

October 7, 2016

Since this is the opening weekend of Keeneland, I figured that I would do a little Flashback Friday to the time I was a model in a fashion show back in April for Fashion at the Races. For those that don’t know, I live in Lexington, which is the “Horse Capital of the World.” Here, in Kentucky, we are obviously known for horses. I’m pretty sure everyone has heard of the Kentucky Derby. Before I tell you about the fashion show, I’ll tell you a little about Keeneland… Louisville has Churchill Downs and Lexington has Keeneland. If you have watched the movie,…

It’s Fall Y’all! | A Piece of Appalachia With The Bluegrass Box

October 6, 2016

This post is in collaboration with The Bluegrass Box. All of these opinions are entirely my own. Thank you for supporting brands and businesses that support Fabulous in Fayette! I’m sure if you haven’t figured it out yet, then you probably won’t. I’m a proud Kentuckian living in Lexington, and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I think it is the greatest city, and I love our great state of Kentucky, or as our friends call it, the Commonwealth *inside joke* (well, actually it is – Kentucky is one of four states that is considered a Commonwealth). I’m not afraid to let anyone…

Root Beer Float With a Kentucky Twist

October 3, 2016

You may remember me mentioning Buffalo Trace, when I visited the distillery a few weeks ago. To refresh your memory, Buffalo Trace is one of the many bourbon distilleries in Central Kentucky. Buffalo Trace is located in Frankfort, Kentucky, and has historically been known by other names, such as the George T. Stagg Distillery and the O.F.C. Distillery. Buffalo Trace claims the distillery is the oldest continuously-operating distillery in the United States. At the end of our tour that we had at Buffalo Trace, we had a tasting, as there is at all distilleries once the tours are finished. During the tasting, we…

A Tasting With Brent Elliott at OBC Kitchen | Master Distiller of Four Roses

September 30, 2016

I was on facebook last week, when I saw an event pop-up in my newsfeed. It was for a pop-up tasting for Four Roses with Master Distiller Brent Elliott. Like I mentioned before, when I met Jimmy Russell, it’s not everyday that you get to hang out a Master Distiller from one of the distilleries. So, when an opportunity presents itself (especially if bourbon is something you enjoy), you should take it! There was a catch with this event. It was at a “secret” location, and the location wouldn’t be disclosed until that day around noon. Also, only the first fifty…
