It’s almost like fall exploded all over my blog, since everything I’ve been sharing you with y’all relates to fall in some way. What could be more fall like than going to an orchard to pick your own apples?!? That’s exactly what my husband and I did a few weekends ago! Eckert’s Boyd Orchard invited me to come check it out, and I was so excited, because I always had planned on going, but just never have!
Eckert’s Boyd Orchard is located in Versailles, Kentucky off of Pinckard Pike. The drive from Lexington to Eckert’s Boyd Orchard takes you through some of the most gorgeous horse farms that you’ll ever see. It’s hard to believe scenery like that is located just minutes away from Lexington. At Eckert’s, they grow super sweet peaches, blackberries, over 30 varieties of apples, and lots of pumpkins, which are all available seasonally. There is even a tractor ride that you can enjoy to the fields to pick the fruit of your choice.
FYI: There are only two weekends left to enjoy the fall festivities!
My husband and I don’t have children yet, but I think this would be a perfect place to take your children for a fun-filled family day. Even if you are sans kids, it still would make for a cute date! There is a playground, a 90 foot slide, a three story tree house, and even Terry’s Apple Mountain, that you can climb to the top of! Not only that, but there are activities such as; gem-mining, rat races, a corn maze, a train ride, petting zoo, and even a pumpkin jumping pad. I was kind of jealous of the kids, because I wanted to join in all of the fun!
While we were there, we took a short tractor ride to the orchard, so we could pick our own apples. This was a perfect opportunity to see some of the grounds at Eckert’s. Near the apple trees, there were pumpkin patches, where you could pick out your own pumpkin. If you want, you are also able to able to pick out a pumpkin to purchase near the entrance.
After we were finished picking apples, we decided to go through the corn maze. Corn mazes are one of my favorite fall activities! Once we made it through the corn maze, we took another tractor ride back to the store to do some shopping. We did so much shopping! Everything was so reasonably priced and I wanted basically everything. The store is stocked full of delicious jams, jellies, preserves, honey, pies, and various fresh fruits, as well as apple cider and super cute gift items! I’ve been needing some more home decor, so I picked up two signs, along with a bunch of apple goodies!
I had heard so many good things about Eckert’s Boyd Orchard’s apple cider donuts, so naturally I had to get some! Oh-em-gee! These donuts are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I only got a half dozen, and now I wish I got about three dozen. They are THAT good, I promise!
