Celebrating 50 Years With Brand Ambassador Al Young of Four Roses

June 21, 2017

On June 20, OBC Kitchen and Four Roses teamed up for another pop-up tasting! When I heard about it, I knew I had to go! You may remember the last time I went back in September, when I had the opportunity to taste the 2016 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon with Master Distiller Brent Elliott. This time it was for Senior Brand Ambassador Al Young’s 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (Al was also at the previous event too!). This was yet another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (and it was also Al’s birthday!).  I was the first to arrive again! What…

10 Budget Summer Date Ideas In Lexington, Kentucky For Under $20

June 20, 2017

Today is officially the first day of summer, even though it has been feeling like summer for the past couple of weeks! Summer is the perfect season to spend time outdoors, since the weather is so lovely. Some people may be bored or have trouble with coming up with date activities that are out of the norm. Going on dates doesn’t have to be expensive, and there’s plenty of activities to do in Lexington for free and especially for under $20 for two people, instead of the stereotypical dinner and a movie.

Whew! We’ve made it through another week! There are so many amazing events happening over the weekend. It’s too bad that the weather is going to be questionable! For the week of June 17 to June 23, I’ve added over 200 events happening just in Lexington. If you click on the link, there will be more…

How to Make a Boulevardier for National Bourbon Day

June 14, 2017

What a day today is! Don’t tell me that you don’t know! Today is not only Flag Day, but it is National Bourbon Day! I know some people may roll their eyes if they hear that it is National Bourbon Day, because they assume it’s like the other “fake” holidays throughout the year, such as National Talk Like a Pirate Day. However, National Bourbon Day is in fact a real holiday (or at least it is to us Kentuckians and fellow bourbon drinkers). Legend has it that June 14 is the anniversary of the very first time that bourbon was distilled…

The One and Only Beer Cheese Festival in the World Celebrates Nine Years

June 13, 2017

This past weekend was beautiful, but y’all it was a scorcher. It was ridiculously hot! I spent the majority of the day outside at the 9th Annual Beer Cheese Festival in Winchester, Kentucky aka the birthplace of beer cheese. (No, I don’t mean beer AND cheese, but it’s a festival dedicated to the wonderful food – beer cheese). The sun was out in full force beating down on all of us festival goers (the UV Index was very high – level 9). I thought I was going to die! My friend and I took several breaks from the heat by going into Cairn…
