It’s the weekend, y’all!! Thank goodness! I don’t know about y’all, but this has felt like such a long week!

Looking for “Things to Do for Valentine’s Day in Lexington, Kentucky?” What about “Where to Eat” for Valentine’s Day in Lexington, Kentucky?” Some of the events on my “Things to Do for Valentine’s Day” post are happening tonight and over the weekend, instead of being on actual Valentine’s Day!

Some highlights for this upcoming week, include The First Every Puppy Bowl on Saturday at The Summit at Fritz Farm! Also, Saturday, February 9 is National Pizza Day! So, go out and celebrate!   • 8am: Annual Warehouse Sale at Bryant’s Rent All (shopping): It’s that time again–the annual warehouse sale will be held February 4th to February 9th during business hours. They will have outdated and gently used inventory up for sale.
  • 12pm: 2019 Kentucky Sport, Boat & Recreation Show at the Lexington Convention Center: The annual KY Sport, Boat & Recreation Show is here! They will have boats, RV’s, hunting equipment, everything outdoors, seminars, demonstrations, bourbon tastings, entertainment, and activities for the whole family to enjoy. (Also, on February 9 at 9am and February 10 at 10am).
  • 12pm: New And Improved IP&J Cuban Sandwich Unveiling at Fusion Brewing (food): The only fresh authentic Cuban bread in town, fresh roasted pork and ham, swiss cheese, and now introducing our house made pickles and mustard. Be the first to try it out this Saturday from 12pm until 10pm or until they run out at Fusion Brewing and pair it with some of the best local craft beers around! They will be building sandwiches to order, have vegan sandwich options, and an option to design your own sandwhich!
  • 1pm: Wildcat Watch Party at Whiskey Bear: It’s Game Day and we’re ready to cheer on the CATS. Come watch the game on their 100″ screen.

  • 7pm: Paint Pouring Workshop at Create art + play studio (art/crafts): It is a super unique and special type of art! You can create different layers and patterns and colors and have a blast with this special medium. Mix, pour and create colorful abstract art on two small canvases.   • 7:15pm: Trap Yoga at Synergy Coach (health/fitness/wellness): Join Sophia Lorin of SoPHIT4you, all the way from the nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. She has 7 years of experience as a personal trainer before becoming certified in yoga, so come prepared to get a nice workout in as well as vibe out with DJ Forerunner! All proceeds from weekend will go to Resolves new 501 c 3 (non-profit) to create more opportunities like Trap Yoga while providing executive coaching for entrepreneurs! Tickets available: HERE.

  • 11am: Saturday Storytime: “Spring is Around the Corner: Let’s Be Mindful at Joseph-Beth Booksellers: The Yoga Meditation and Therapy Center will present an interactive program for children (3 years old and up) and accompanying adults at Joseph Beth Booksellers on Saturday, FEBRUARY 9, 2019 at 11:00 am. Come out and mindfully celebrate nature with music and movement. This program is designed to help children build the skill of mindfully connecting with themselves, others, and the environment.
  • 11:30am: MTB Porchata Bottle Release at Mirror Twin Brewing Company (alcohol): This delicious Imperial Porter was aged in Wilderness Trail Rum Barrels with Cinnamon & Vanilla added during the brewing process.
  • 12pm: The First Annual Puppy Bowl at The Summit at Fritz Farm (cause): Come out for the first ever Puppy Bowl in partnership with the Lexington Humane Society! They will have a heated tent on The Green and all sorts of floofer festivities! Enjoy pop-ups for your pooches and help us get pups in need adopted! 
  • 12pm: Touché de Rhum Bottle Release at Fusion Brewing (alcohol): Come out on Saturday to get a bottle of their sour beer, Touché de Rhum. The bottle release starts at noon for non-members and a special open release will start at 11am for all beer and science club members. Bottle limit is two per person, with a limited quantity available.
  • 1pm: LexJam – Woodsongs Coffeehouse at Ranada’s Bistro and Bar (music): Live music!
  • 1pm: Calling All Little Mermaid Fans at Painting With a Twist (art/crafts):This event does require a Sketch. When you arrive, the outline of the mermaid will be sketched on your canvases. Tickets available: HERE.

  • 6pm: An Evening with George Foreman at Keeneland: Come out for a power-punched evening at Keeneland to celebrate Sunrise’s 150th anniversary with George. He will speak about the adversities he faced in childhood, being knocked down repeatedly, and how he transformed his life.   • 7pm: Valentine’s Day Can be Celebrated Early at Painting With a Twist (art/crafts): As a couple, you will each paint one half of the painting and hang them together to make one complete painting. Topics change weekly and integrate art and science into a fun hands-on experience (Recurring Tuesdays until March 26).
  • 11am: Blu Sol Vegan Pop-Up at Wild Figs Coffee and Books (books): Join Chef Indego for Blu Sol Electric Kitchen’s Vegan Pop-up every Tuesday at The Fig! This Tuesday will be the Avo-Taco Bar with a 3 for $5 special (Recurring every Tuesday until February 26).
  • 4pm: Kids Eat Free on Tuesday Nights at Pietana (food): Every Tuesday, bring your family & kids eat free!   • 6:30pm: Tuesday Yoga at Voices of Hope (fitness/health/wellness): Join us for free yoga at our Recovery Community Center (450 Old Vine Street) every Tuesday.   • 7pm: Kentucky Wildcats Men’s Basketball vs. LSU Tigers Men’s Basketball at Rupp Arena (sports)All patrons require a ticket, regardless of age. Ticket limits may change prior to the on sale. If accessible seating is sold out, please contact the UK Ticket Office at (800) 928-2287 during ticket office hours of 9 AM to 4 PM ET.   • 7pm: Watch UK vs LSU at Soundbar: Cheer on the Cats and play games! UK takes on LSU! They’ll have plenty of big screen TVs showing the game and some hooked up to Nintendo Wii’s, N64s, and a PS4.
  • 7pm: Tuesday Night Live Team Trivia at Bear & the Butcher (games): Live team trivia. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and best team name. They are a new restaurant in Chevy Chase that specializes in sausages made from scratch on premises and street food. As well two fully stocked bars with an abundance of locally brewed beer (draft, cans, bottles).
  • 7pm: Wildcat Watch Party at Whiskey Bear: It’s Game Day and we’re ready to cheer on the CATS. Come watch the game on their 100″ screen.
  • 7pm: Trivia at Ethereal Brewing (games): Enjoy a brew or two and flex those bragging rights with some trivia at Ethereal!
  • 8pm: Music Bingo at Drake’s (games): Come play music bingo and win prizes! A fun take on traditional bingo. Players are given a bingo card where numbers have been replaced with song names, music titles or both. There’s a winner every game and it’s Pint Night with $3 pints of Drake’s Lager and Beer of the Month! (Recurring Tuesdays until April 23).
  • 8pm: Dan Tedesco at Cosmic Charlie’s (music): Iowa-based Alternative Folk artist Dan Tedesco presents this special double-feature. Two sets. Two full album performances. The first, Tom Petty’s masterpiece, “Wildflowers”, and the second, Tedesco’s first album, “Starin’ At A Green Light”, which turns 10 years old in 2019. Tickets available: HERE.
  • 8:15pm: GLOW SkyFit at Sky Zone Lexington (health/fitness/wellness): SkyFit is moving to Tuesdays beginning February 12th! They are celebrating the change with a special GLOW SkyFit class.   • 6pm: Jim Rutledge Cream of Kentucky Bourbon Experience at Justin House of Bourbon (alcohol): Join Justins’ House of Bourbon and Bourbon Hall-of-Famer, Master Distiller Jim Rutledge, for an exceptional Bourbon tasting experience that has never been done before. You’ll be treated to a tasting of Cream of Kentucky, Mr. Rutledge’s new Bourbon brand, which is nearly sold-out nationwide. Cream of Kentucky has a long tradition and at one point in the late 1930’s and 1940’s was one of America’s most popular brands, but like many brands it was discontinued due to loss of interest in Bourbon from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Guests at this event will be able to taste vintage Cream of Kentucky that was bottled in the mid-1970’s. Mr. Rutledge will be on hand to chat with guests about his new project and share his 50-plus years of experience about the Bourbon industry.

  • 12pm: Elemental Cowl KAL at ReBelle (art/crafts): The first knit along of 2019 will be the Elemental Cowl by Lavanya Patricella. This fair isle cowl is knitted in the round and then grafted to create a double-thick (and double warm) cowl. the pattern calls for four colors of dk weight yarn, but can be made with as few as two and as many as twelve it’s up to you and your imaginationAll ReBelle knit alongs are free and open to the public.   • 6pm: Dollhouse Class at Create art + play studio (art/crafts/kid friendly): Calling all future architects and designers! Create your own dollhouse or superhero hideout.   • 7pm: Them Coulee Boys with Mama Said String Band at The Burl (music): Founded in late 2013, Them Coulee Boys have quickly become a force on the Midwest music scene. Soren Staff, Beau Janke, Jens Staff, Neil Krause, and Patrick Phalen IV work together as a well-oiled alt-folk machine to craft songs and live shows that have impressed audiences nationwide.   • 7pm: Black Lens: Loving at The Lyric Theatre: The Lyric is pleased to announce our ‘Black Lens: Winter Film Series’ which showcases films that celebrate black cinema. Through this dance the dancers explore innovative transitions and floor patterns between each other. The dance is also full of gorgeous fusion combinations and turns. This workshop is open to dancers with a Basics Plus level of experience.   • 8pm: Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at AthensWest Theatre Company: Winner of the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play, Albee’s often-hilarious and sometimes-horrifying play holds an unforgettable mirror up to the face of American marriage.   • 8pm: Ian Bagg at Comedy Off Broadway (comedy): Ian Bagg started his comedy career in his native country, Canada. He proceeded to do all the show business things that every successful Canadian entertainer does. He went to a “Hockey Night in Canada” game on a Saturday night, performed at the “Montreal Comedy Festival,” kissed a fish in Newfoundland and shot a “Comedy Now” special on CTV. So what does a Canadian do when he has done it all? He boards a train to New York City, lives in a youth hostel and ends up on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” He also appeared on “Make Me Laugh,” “Showcase Comics with Louie Anderson,” “Fridays” on NBC and “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn.” Tickets available: HERE(Also, on February 15 at 7:15pm and 9:45pm, February 16 at 7:15pm and 9:45pm).
  • 9pm: Lucy Dacus with Illuminati Hotties and Letters of Acceptance at Cosmic Charlie’s (music): Live music! Tickets available: HERE.
  • 9pm: JD Westmoreland Band at Al’s Bar WSG Heirloom Symphony (music): J.D. Westmoreland is a composer and a multi-instrumentalist mostly playing improvisations and eclectic compositions. The JD Westmoreland Band has a laid back space, psychedelic sound, with classic Memphis, and Delta soul.
  • 9pm: Free Comedy Show at The Twisted Cork (comedy): This first show in February brings us back an old favorite to The Cork, Allan Ivie returns! Allan is a fantastic local comedian that brings his version of comedy to the stage, one that is unique and a must see! The card is locked and loaded, sure to be a guest set or two
  • 10pm: 90’s Dance Party at Soundbar (music): Taking it Back to the 90’s at Soundbar! Your Favorite 90’s Music with DJ Jay Jax! Wear your 90’s gear or come as you are! NO COVER – Drink Specials All Night Long!! (Recurring Thursdays until March 1).
