Buffalo Trace Distillery is one of the many bourbon distilleries in Central Kentucky (However, it is not on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail). Buffalo Trace is located in Frankfort, Kentucky. It has historically been known by other names, including the George T. Stagg Distillery and the O.F.C. Distillery. The Buffalo Trace brand was introduced in August 1999. Buffalo Trace claims the distillery is the oldest continuously-operating distillery in the United States. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail consists of nine distilleries. There are A LOT more distilleries in Kentucky (after all, we are responsible for 95% of the world’s bourbon), and there is even another trail that is called the Kentucky Bourbon Craft Trail, which consists of eleven other distilleries. Liquor Barn is the largest retailer of beer, spirits, and wine in Kentucky. Over Labor Day weekend, my husband, our friends, and I attended Red, White, and Boom 2016. Red, White, & Boom has been a country music festival in Lexington ever since the Fourth of July in 2004. It first started as a one day event, then it expanded to two days, and now it is three days long.
